Sublimated patches
Custom Sublimated Patches in Unlimited Colors
Dye sublimation is the best way to reproduce artwork that thread cannot: photographs, watercolor illustrations, soft gradients, detailed maps and full-color logos with many shades.
The process prints your design onto transfer paper, then presses it onto a light-colored polyester twill at high temperature. The ink becomes part of the fibers, so the image is smooth to the touch and does not sit on top as a layer. After printing, the patch is cut to shape and finished with a merrowed or embroidered border for a clean edge.
Sublimated patches are popular for events, tourism, sports memorabilia, school projects and promotional giveaways, and for brands whose logos rely on gradients. They are also cost-effective because there is no digitizing and no limit on the number of colors.
Hybrid options
Want texture too? We can add embroidered details or outlines on top of a sublimated base, so a photographic background sits behind stitched lettering.

Materials
Polyester twill printed with sublimation inks using heat transfer, finished with a merrowed or embroidered border.
Size guidance
Any size from 1.5 to 10 inches works well. Because detail is printed, even small sublimated patches can include fine lettering, but photos read best at 3 inches and larger.
Quantities & pricing
Minimum order is 10 patches per design. With no digitizing step, sublimated patches are often the most economical choice for small full-color runs.
Artwork recommendations
Send high-resolution artwork — at least 300 DPI at the final size for photos and raster images. Provide CMYK or Pantone references for brand colors. Keep important details away from the very edge where the border sits.

FAQ
Sublimated patch FAQs
What is the difference between sublimated and printed patches?
Sublimation bonds dye into polyester fibers, so the image is part of the fabric. Other printed patches (such as screen or digital print) place ink on the surface. Sublimation gives the smoothest gradients and the best wash durability on polyester.
Can you print a photo on a patch?
Yes. Sublimation reproduces photos well. Send the highest-resolution image you have and we will check it before printing.
Do sublimated patches fade?
Sublimation inks are very colorfast. Like any printed textile, prolonged direct sunlight over years can soften colors, but normal wear and washing will not crack or peel the image.
